Directed Research (1-4 credits)
Are you interested in learning more about how the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted college students like you? If so, consider enrolling in LEAD 4972: Directed Research in the Leadership Minor, an online independent study class.
The class projects usually involve developing infographics, graphics, policy reports, or Tweets after analyzing the data from 34,000+ college students who took our COVID-19 survey. The topics include food/housing insecurity, mental health, financial hardships, sense of belonging, academic obstacles, and more. Here are some examples of our research about the pandemic's effects on college students. Our instructor, Krista Soria, will help with analyzing the data if that part makes you nervous.
LEAD 4972 is offered as a regular semester and B-term class. There are no established class times and you work at your own pace. You do not need to be a leadership minor student to enroll and you can take the class more than once (up to 12 credits). The credits count toward the Leadership Minor elective requirement and as upper-division credits for graduation. If you are interested in enrolling in LEAD 4972, please contact the instructor, Krista Soria, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
