In addition to the 4 core courses (12 credits), you must complete 5 elective credits. These elective courses are meant to complement your development as a leader. Consider what you’d like to do in the future and what coursework may help strengthen those areas. As with our core courses, we ask students to be intentional about their elective credits as well. For a complete list of the courses that qualify as electives, see below.
As the Leadership Minor transitions, we are refining our list of electives to be more cohesive – which means that the list will be refined and reduced over time. There is not a hard date for when change this will occur. We will do our best to honor student agreements, in terms of electives chosen, if you completed the Community course (LEAD 3961) prior to 2017.
- Any academic study abroad experience (taken on an A-F grading basis) can be used towards your five (5) credits of electives for the Minor. If it is a 1-week or 2-week credit-bearing trip, it will be considered for three (3) credits. Semester-long and May-term experiences will fulfill 5 credits.
